Taralets! Field Trip!

Last week, I joined J1's first school field trip. A week before that, I was having second-thoughts of joining him. Wala lang... I was thinking, he might not behave well pag ako kasama or baka mas okay if yaya instead of joining him. But last minute, I thought dapat nga ata ako ang kasama and as agreed by T, he is more comfortable that I accompany J1 in the trip.

There were 3 areas visited in the field trip. Keribels naman. I was excited kasi one of which was Repertory Phils. - Wizard of Oz. First time ko! Hehe!

Come that day, ayay! It was raining in the morning. Si bagyong Karen ata salarin hehe! Or habagat ulit? (Selective amnesia? hehe!) Basta. We were (almost) late. Everybody was already in the bus, 2-3 students na lang hinihintay including us. I thought we will seat at the back of the bus na but good thing there were seat assignments so medyo sa gitna kami ni J1. Dami namin dala! Kung makadala ng snacks, wagas! Haha! Feeeel na feeel ang field trip, within Manila lang naman haha! Pak! Me extra bag pa because of my breast pump. Of course, I thought of how and when to pump na so I was ready and even tweeted about it.

First stop was Kulturang Pinoy at the Boom na Boom compound. The school wanted the students to learn about the culture and it was also an off-shoot of the Buwan ng Wika celebration. We were there early (kami ata unang group) and malapit lang school from there. We were greeted by the KP band, syempre native style.

Children were made to dance, saya! J1 was so happy dancing. Ang ingay nga lang kasi wagas ang pagtambol and the entrance was small so kulob ang sounds. Fiestang-fiesta ang peg ng entrance.

After that we were led to a big blue (cold) room, kumbaga parang green room sa mga gumagawa ng films.

The students were led to the dressing room so they could be dressed up for some native dance number. And here's J1 when he came out. Hehe!

The group where J1 belonged danced the "Maglalatik."

Others dance numbers were Masskara-festival and Panagbenga-inspired. Some of the faculty members and partners danced too! Nope, di ako kasama, nagtago ako hehe! Videos were taken and compiled and shown to us after. Copy of the video in CD were sold at Php 50 each. Not bad, got one for J1.

After that, we went to the "Bahay Kubo," the facilitator shared information about native house and some of the native things that Filipinos used way back like the tampipi, etc.

Then the kids went up to this "kalesa." Unahan sila, syempre, mabilis si J1! He likes her classmate, I think hehe! (Nakaakbay yan!)

After the "kalesa ride," the kids went to this big room with the replica (front) of the house in Kawit, Cavite where the Philippine Independence was declared and walls the different scenic spots around the country.

J1 tried to copy the eagle here. (Shy type version?)

Gusto kaya ni J1 talaga si classmate?? Hmmm....

The last stop... never mind. Did not bother to take pictures. We were made to watch a video about a parent writing his son/daughter and vice versa, which I think went viral in FB dati. And the kids did not pay attention much - kumbaga, di pa sila relate. J1 and group were more busy with what one of their classmates bought, lighting sword heeee!

After KP, off we went to Greenbelt 1 to watch Repertory Phils.'s Wizard of Oz. Cameras or taking pictures were not allowed inside the theater. The kids were in awe! And so were the adults! The play was awesome. Everybody was. Frustrated stage actor akez. LOL! We were only allowed to take pictures after the play.

With Glinda the Good Witch (and a munckin from afar)

With Dorothy (super beautiful voice!), Aunt Em and Uncle Henry

With Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow (fantastic cast!)

Dumami tao sa stage, kelangan makisingit. I asked J1 if he wants to take pictures with the witch (Wicked Witch of the West played by Pinky Marquez. Ang galing nya! Do you know that Pinky Marquez is a nutrition graduate? Naks, feeling affiliated haha!) and he said no because he was scared. But when we went out of the theater, he was looking for her. Hay naku! Kala ko ba takot ka?

After the play, we went to have lunch. One of the longest lunch I've had. And the kids took their sweet time to play around the fast food store. Ergo, plakda sila pagpunta namin sa last stop ng field trip.

Last stop was PAGASA.

Ay may kuwento muna - I thought, per first communication from J1's school, that the last stop of the field trip was Seri Fantasy Land in Manila Ocean Park. So, I prepped J1 where we will be going etc. A day before the field trip, I did not bother checking J1's school diary. During the field trip, all the while, I thought we were going to Seri Fantasy Land and so was J1. So I was surprised when after the lunch break, we were going north instead of going to Manila. Then there, we were at PAGASA na. So I did not bother to ask, I was thinking, ahhh, added sa itinerary siguro. Then just yesterday (Sunday), I was checking and going through J1's school things, viola! I saw in J1's diary about the advisory of change of venue of the trip. Ayayay! Ano ba yan muther!!! Mula ngayon, I will check the school diary everyday. Actually, I do check naman but just this, talaga...

In PAGASA, the kids watched video about how bad weather happens among other things. The video was so nice kasi it was accompanied by a jingle instead of story telling. The jingle was so appropriate for the kids. After the video, the weatherman asked the kids about what are the different types of weather, syempre pa-bibo si J1, he said "Sun!," meaning sunny day. Other kids went on with rainy day, windy day... etc. The best answer raised - HOLIDAY! Lol! Everybody was laughing.

Waiting for the weatherman

Ikaw na, anak. Ikaw na ang pagod. Lol! (He just woke up from his nap)

It was a long day but everybody was happy. We thanked God after the trip because even though it rained in the morning, the weather improved the rest of the day. And nakakapagod ang mag-field trip hehe! Ano pa kaya kung outside Manila?? Yay!

Sabi nya, he enjoyed his first school field trip :)

San pa ba maganda mag-field trip? Let me know!

xoxo, mommy kate
